Welcome! As a bicyclist and a member of bicycling and pedestrian groups and other related organizations, I have decided to search for possible solutions to the problems of our area and post what I find for general information, discussion and comment. If you read the local paper or local news on-line, you have all heard about the issues of bicycling in Florida, but that is not what this blog is for. Instead, I think it is time to find solutions and make this one of the best places in the US to bicycle.
Bicycling in southwest Florida is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the area year around. There is no where else in the US that has so many great days for bicycling. Bicycling helps me deal with the stress of everyday life as a technology entrepreneur. It keeps me healthy even though my days include setting behind a computer nearly all day helping solve the logistics problems of companies throughout the US. In addition to keeping me healthy, bicycling throughout southwest Florida has allowed me to know the county better in last 7 years of bicycling than all the 36 years I have lived here. It is one of the best ways to see all the area has to offer up close and personal. For example, nearly all our parks are interconnected by bicycle trails! How many places can make that claim?
